Has anyone tried any of the seriously hot chili sauces, the stuff like this: http://www.chilefarm.co.uk/sauces6.html

I like hot chili sauce, but havent ever tried the really hot stuff because the way I see it the first mouthful will basically fry your testebuds and you will be numb to the taste of it for the rest of the meal, does this tend to be the case?

Speaking of hot, how about this for a bit of laugh with your mates after a night out: http://www.insanechicken.com/Blair-s-16-Million-Wo...

See you can keep a drop of that on their tongue the longest.

I think this topic has been covered before and the outcome was that 'mental hot chillis' are for masochistic 'look at me' pub bragging rights and in no way tasty or enjoyable.

I've had "Biohazard" from Scorchio.co.uk

It's up in the millions on the Scoville scale. Two of my friends who tried it had about a mil on their tongue, and were consequently sick.

Some are just hot and don't actually taste nice.

I do really like Dave's sauces as they are not only hot they have a really nice smooth taste.

You do get used to the hotness though and as such dishes that are less hot become a bit tasteless.

I like hot food but as you say some of the hot sauces just are purely so you can give it to your mates and laugh.

The nicest hot sauce I have tasted is called dragons blood from chillipepperpete.com - although it is seriously hot it has loads of taste, very smokey. A few drops in a vat of chilli and you certainly notice it though!

Damn typos!! Suppose it could sting a bit if you did, another oppurtunity for a practical joke though I suppose.

Like the sound of dragons blood, Im going to get some of that. I like hot but it needs to retain some flavour.

Speaking of hot chilis, where I spent a number of years (south africa) we had what were called Devil Chilis in the garden, small red chilis that had a massive kick.

Me and my mates used to have challenges to see who could keep them on your tongue the longest, two of us had a plan and wrapped ours in clingfilm, twisted at the bottom so that when we held them in our hands it was unoticeable, and then pretended to be in pain while the others had genuine chilis on their tongues!! Of course we won, and no pain involved.

I also took them to school and put them into sandwiches in lunchboxes, although got caught out because shortly after squeezing the juice into a sandwich I rubbed my eye, thought I was going to go blind!! so much pain.

Its a good chili and one I wish I could make a sauce out of. It starts with pain on the tongue, then spreads to the lips, and finally the entire area around your mouth is in agony. Milk, water, nothing helps, you end up just running around like you're on fire. Had a flavour to it though.

Have been back a few times since but cant find them anymore.

I'm a fan of the "Pain is Good" range of sauces, which despite the name are not that hot if you like Tabasco, for example.

Hotter than that is for idiots and frat boys (imho).

I have a bottle of Dragon's Blood Hot Sauce and as the name suggests, it's like fire on the tongue. It accompanied me to our christmas bash at work and there were a few casualties!

A friend rubbed dragons blood on the back of my neck when I was on the phone and that was bad enough. When I used water to try clean it off, it just made it worst.

I love a nice chilli sauce so ordered some from one of the internet specialists. In my selection I thought Id try one of the silly silly hot sauces so got the Mad Dog 357. Now I love hot food but this stuff is ridiculous. One drop was enough to leave my mouth and stomach on fire for what seemed hours.
I had some spicy meatballs recently and had put just one drop of this stuff into an entire sauce pan of tomato sauce and even then when diluted as much as this the sauce was still hot!
Get a bottle just to try it and see how hot these sauces really can be. Just dont expect to use much of it. smile

You want to look up Dorset Nagas then if you think they're hot. I have a good handful of bird eyes in my chilli con carne most weeks.

On the scoville scale they're rated between 50,000 - 175,000 compared to close to a million for the Naga.

There's no chilli sauce that matches actual chillis for me. They have a level of flavour that sauces just can't manage.
