Yorkshire Dales. Butchers, Farm Shops and good food.
Discussion
I'm off for a vacation shortly in the Yorkshire Dales. Got a cottage not far from Aysgarth, Thoralby area.
We will be self catering and can therefore sample the local restaurants and pubs but also the local farm-shops, butchers and so on.
Local recommendations would be most appreciated. I wouldn't want to miss some local gem and end up shopping in the nearest big town's Sainsburys...
One night is going to involve the most enormous T-bone/Porterhouse I can persuade the Mrs to let me buy...
A good local wine merchant wouldn't go amiss, either.

Thanks for that. Not the Dales at all, but well worth a trip out/detour en route:
Byrnes Wine Merchants of Clitheroe
It doesn't look much from the outside, but inside there's a cellar off a cellar off a cellar off a cellar...

Looks brilliant. And they some of my favourite wines on their list...The Tasting Menu looks superb...
Also recommended are http://www.thedevonshirearms.co.uk/ and http://www.ripleycastle.co.uk/hotel.html
All of these are good and you shouldn't come away disappointed. The Devonshire (Restaurant) serves Fine Food although can have a 'busy' atmosphere, and the Boar's Head is more than adequate for a nice meal out.
Of the three, I'd go for the Yorke first, as it has more of a 'special feel' to the place, at least in my opinion anyway. They are all within shouting distance of where you say you will be based but if you want to go further afield ( about an hour away ) and also be on the doorstep of some serious hooning roads, go to http://www.thestaratharome.co.uk/. My experience here was at least comparable to the Yorke, but the portions are much bigger!

Slightly out of the way maybe but both recommended:
