Not been to any tapas bars in London, and I know they can be a bit 'hit and miss'.

So, PH suggestions please!

Fino or Barrafina for me.

Never tried Brindisa but I've heard it recommended.

Agreed. La Tasca is pretty rubbish.
Brindisa at Borough Market is decent.

Another vote for Brindisia. Very tapas "bar" rather than restaurant.

Not really a fan of 'chain' places, due to additive laden, centrally processed and the reheated foodstuffs.

ETA, looks like lots of folks agree too! lol

It's not cutting-edge, but it's always decent.

Otherwise Barrafina and Lola Rojo (latter is out of town though).

he didnt ask for cutting edge. to be honest tapas isnt really proper food.

id only really go as a last resort and el pirata is as you say always decent.

It's more a Spanish/Moorish restaurant than a tapas bar but Moro is excellent (good cookbooks too)

Barrafina is one of the nicest tapas places in London (but pricey) another cheaper alternative is Navarro's on Charlotte street
