Mayo on one side.
Heinz tomato ketchup (with a bit of Tabasco in it) on the other.

I am a subject matter expert on this.

Lightly toasted bread, the bottom later having thinly sliced onion and cheese before toasting.

a little mayo on top, then 4 fish fingers on top. Next thinly sliced tomatoes and a little tomato sauce.

The perfect fish finger sandwich!

Has to be cheapo fish fingers as well for that genuine childhood memory. None of your 100% fillet stuff. That's not really a fish finger. It must contain the crappyiest bits of fish. Any budget/value brand will do.

Dear All,

my tweak to this classic (!) dish is in the cooking of the fingers:
Butter the fishy finger before popping under the grill - more moist,

Just fish fingers, cheapo white sliced and some tomato sauce. Anything else is just wrong. Stop trying to posh it up!
