Avoid the Singapore crab - very tasty but takes a very long to eat with all the messing and fiddling around. Sometimes there are late availability places at the Stein Seafood school. I think there is a list posted in the deli, listing all courses in the next few where they have space. Worth doing if you have the chance

Oddly enough, Mrs Sulk and I didn't enjoy the meal we had in the Seafood Restaurant as much as we thought we would. It was rammed, and the waiters / waitresses were all antipodeans with a fairly relaxed attitude to Customer Service. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad; it just didn't live up to the hype. IMHO. having said that we had breakfast the next day in the Bistro, and that was pretty damned good. And the room we had was nice and comfortable too, and they are dog friendly. Said on the website just before we went that we could bring a friend to see Chalky, but the little beggar snuffed it just before we turned up.

There are some nice walks around Padstow itself, and on the other side of the estuary. You could also go and see Port Isaac (where Doc Martin) was filmed. Bit touristy, but where in Cornwall isn't.

Get the ferry across the Camel to Rock, have a wander along the beach, have a nosy around St Enodocs golf course and find the sunken church where Sir John Betjeman is buried. Take a drive along the coast road towards Newquay, stop off somewhere like Trevone or Trevose Head - beautiful coastline there. Go along to Watergate Bay and see if you can get into Jamie Olivers Fifteen for lunch - make a proper foodie trip of it. Drink a few pints of St Austells finest in any of the Padstow harbour pubs.

It's all good!

My wife brought me there for my 30th a few years ago, there is a company that hires out classic cars - my wife got me an E-Type and it was fantastic. There are some lovely roads to hoon about on so that would be an idea.

The restaurant was very nice by the way.

I had Fruits de Mer and the Turbot - delicious.

The fish and chip is also worth visiting.

Enjoy.

Regarding the Fish and Chips (fish and chip shop), last year when I was in 'Padstein' I got the hump with being in the canteen line conveyor belt and went to the fishmongers next door and had the best crab sandwich I've ever eaten, for the Princeley sum of £3.

Go to Tintagel Castle, it is breathtaking. And while you're in the area, go to The Mill and the Port William Inn at Trebarwith. Both are pretty beyond words, and the former has excellent food.

On top of the other suggestions go to the Camel Valley Vineyard. Just up the road, they do tours you can normally get tastings and the wine is award winning (globally not just for UK wine).

Cost me £400 last visit smile

I went to Padstein last year.

Couldn't get into the seafood restaurant so just went to the Bistro

Very, very, very nice. 3 courses, 3 or 4 wines for around 40 quid.
