Off to John Torode's place for Sunday lunch... what should I expect?

(yes I am aware that many view him as an Antipodean onanist!)

I thought St John was Fergus Henderson, not John Torode? The food - mostly meat but there is a veggie option - is wonderful. Try the parsleyed ham if it's on.

Whichever you go to you won't be disappointed - But they do use erm, differing bits of the animal.

If you do end up at St John's try his signature dish - Bone Marrow - Yum....

If you end up at SOS you can identify your steak farmer - Go for the top floor and if the waether holds, a table outside - The views of Smithfield market are sublime and unique.

And lay a place for me biggrin

Another +ve vote for the top floor at Smiths. I've also heard they do a mean fry-up on the ground floor too - you could spend all Sunday in there, working your way up...

Fergus Henderson at St John is a bit crazy. His food is meant to be sublime and I would love to eat there.

As good as the view is on the top floor, the food doesn't live up to the description/price. There's nothing wrong with it, but I could get similar (without the description about what the cows mother ate for breakfast) for about a third less, admittedly without the view of the market.

Ground floor and first floor dining are good though...

Interesting; it didnt strike me as being excessively priced at the time (around 12 months ago)...and it was dark, so the view was a non-issue. Veal Wellington from memory...was rather good. Always happy to try out recommendations too - spill the beans! wink
