With a M-Star or similar would be nice for lunch on 9th September (mrs B's birthday and she is pregnant)

Been to the Boxwood so thats out, I'd like to avoid Ramsay if possible but that is the standard I'm looking for. I don't really care about the style we are flexible on that and price.

I tried Arbutus and it was nice enough. I'm a big fan of Boxwood also.
Also tried l'Escargot which was nice.
Also, Rhodes 24 is good.

I'd suggest Nobu as their lunch deal (£50) is very good, but the fish angle may cause problems with SWMBO being pregnant...

Oh. Boudin Blanc in Shepherds Market is nice, as is Rousillon.

+1. The Berkley is fantastic and the lunch menu is very reasonably priced. Still has the stupid 'jacket prefered' dress policy which seems to be a hangover from the Ramsay days but well worth the effort.

Would suggest Zuma for some lovely Japanese style food, however if the missus is preggers, raw fish may not be ideal :/

Really nice food though!

I really liked Sketch - 5 mins down Regent St from Oxford Circus.

Thanks, I think we will avoid the Sushi. There are mixed opinions on if it's safe (I don't think the Japanese have died out yet) so not really taking the risk.

Nothing too formal else I would book Hospital Road!

I'll look at the other suggestions.

If you want nice but informal, see if you can claw your way into Bocca di Lupo.

Goregeous Italian.

Some good suggestions so far - I'd also suggest La Poule au Pot just down Sloane St, it's a very nice French place. You also don't have to have sashimi at Zuma, they do plenty of hot dishes!

The Goring in Belgravia does a nice lunch too.

Zafferano on Lowndes Street, Knightsbridge. London's best posh Italian, imho.

Park outside the Turkish Embassy on nearby Belgrave Square and you also get a free armed guard (one of our BiB).

Up Great Portland Street is Villandry - the proper restaurant at the back, not the deli - I usually take customers there. Good service - always has Ribeye on the menu, cooked very nicely.
