Wineries in the South East?
Discussion
On the weekend we ended up dropping in on Denbies next to Box Hill, which seemed a perfect time to do it on a cack rainy day (been meaning to check it out for many years). Only problem was it was the weekend when James May was doing his Lego thing, and the place was overrun with families and children. Bugger!
Tried a few of their wines, in the chaos, but was the wrong time to visit!
Anyhow, I remember seeing on "Oz and James on the Lash", that there are quite a few wineries that have started up in the last 10 years in the South East, one reason being the area shares same chalk band and weather as that of the north of France (ie. the Champagne region).
So, are there any wineries in the South East that are worth visiting?

Chapel Down Winery in Tenterden, Kent. Worth a look (and sample). They also do tours and have a really good restaurant run by Richard Phillips. I went for lunch and a browse on a Thursday and it was rammed with people.

Wickham is nice and has Vatika (restaurant, Atul Kochhars new place).
Stanlake park is another we stumbled on and is a very pleasant little venture.
Godstone does adopt a vine but could make more of itself a little disappointing. The wine was ok
Not SE but I'd also recommend Camel Valley (Cornwall)

This used to be great for a visit, loads of free samples, cheese and some hazy memories, haven't been there for a few years though, so not my fault if its got to rats!

Another one well worth a visit is Ridgeview in E Sussex where they make sparkling wine in the Champagne style....they have to say that!
