telford's warehouse on the canal is good for pub grub and a few beers. can be studenty though if thats not your thing.

fat cat cafe bar is cheap and reasonable.

not been there in a few years so may all have changed.

We went to a good Cuban place a couple of years ago, cant remember the name or where it was though - not much help huh?!
Down a few steps, good food and good cocktails.

Would attempt to find it again when down there next.

Havana's is more a bar, a very sweaty one. Not good for a date.

The Grosvenor is obviously very nice but very expensive. Is she worth it?

I wouldn't choose the grosvenor, I ate there just before it changed it's name (from the arkle to simon radley) it was very disappointing. The meal came to around £350 and that was with 1 of the cheaper bottles of wine. The staff didn't seem interested, the food was average and the surroundings were bland.
There is a nice steak house by habitat in the city centre, can't remember the name but I had a kobe steak from there and it was very good.

Ohh yeah, the Black House Grill is very nice. The all-you-can-eat Chinese is also fantastic, but it's more like a canteen so probably not good for a date.

If finances permit, try The Grosvenor IMHO. If you do, you must sample the cognac list also.

As already stated, chez jules is good, my personal favourite has to be a restaurant called egos. Theres plenty to choose from suppose itll go down to your/her taste. Telfords warehouse also has the advantage that it has a good bar and there may be a band playing afterwards.

I would STRONGLY suggest the Mill Pool in Little Budworth. Very near Oulton Park & only 10 miles away from Chester City centre, overlooking a lake that used to be a working mill pool.

If this restaurant, the food & surroundings fail to impress, I'll run b0ll0ck naked down a high street of your choice......that's a promise.

Paul, the owner/chef has been serving fine bistro food there for over 20 years & is a protege of Gordon Ramsey. I have travelled the world & I'm pleased to admit that this restaurant is the finest I have had eaten at & at a more than reasonable cost.

I would advise booking with good notice & not left to the last minute.

If you wnt absolutely superb pub grub as opposed to a restaurant, you cannot go wrong with The Albion on Park St. 'Family hostile'; no kids, pool tables, fruit machines, just honest good food, drink, ambience.

That's the one. The landlord's very good, just doesn't tolerate nonsense that detracts from the perfect little pub environment. Which is fine as far as I'm concerned.

If you want to see what restaurant food was like in the 1950s, then this is probably somewhere you should take a look at. The menu is straight from then-corned beef hash, the best cottage pie going locally and casseroles that have been cooked for about three weeks. Excellent.

The Albion is everything is says on the label. My dog gets its own bowl of water, I get my excellent pint of real ale and everyone gets stuffed full of goodness. Probably not much good for Americans as there are no additives or junk food.
