Nothing with a coating on. Just to replace the 20 year old ones whose handles fell off!
Need some large pans and a huge jam preserving pan

After a surprisingly long search I bought a copper-bottomed Beka set with "Marco Pierre White" scrawled on them. Still happy with them, three years later. Didn't buy them for the name; they seemed pretty solid and, just as a nice touch, the stock-pot lid will fit on the frying pan so you don't need a seperate splash-cover...

Thank you. I think they are too expensive for me. I have only just learnt to switch the cooker on - I was thinking more the £100-200 range not £400-500

We have the Jamie Oliver set from Tefal.

I think we have had them for about 3 years now and they look very good.

Have you looked at the various Stellar ranges?

Good quality IMHO & several deals on 'sets of saucepans' available on the internet within your price bracket.

Ouch! They weren't that steep, not that a quick google found them for sale when I just checked. About £30-£60 each, depending on the size, IIRC. Almost certainly from John Lewis. Provided they last us twenty years they'll seem pretty reasonable.

I've had my Meyer stainless pan set for nearly 10 years and I reckon I'll get another few decades out of them at this rate.

And I got them from .... Argos ... paperbag

Fissler German Stainless Steel Saucepans & Frying pans bought 16yrs ago in Harrods still as good as new, they have a very heavy thick base.

The very best that I have ever had and will certainly see me out and most probably my children

15 Year guarantee on non stick pans. Had ours for 8 years, and they always come up looking great (and unfortunately they have had some abuse, but dealt with it admirably!)

Comes in sizes from 10l stockpot, to 0.6l milk pan

We got a set last year from Lakeland - being of the female, limp wristed brigade I wanted something that had some weight to them, but were not as heavy as the Meyer type. They come with a life time guarantee, which when queried was explained as "if they break bring them back" - http://www.lakeland.co.uk/my-kitchen-stainless-ste...

Our second choice was the Jamie Oliver range, but the insulation on the handles wasn't as good

I bought a complete set of Fissler pans when I was in Germany, one of the best. Forget non-stick pans, the coating does come off slowly (you won't see it for a few years) and it's extremely toxic.

TK Maxx is fckiung brilliant for stuff like this. Set of very 5 high quality pans for the holiday home (better than the home set) for £45.00 reduced from over £250.00

As the proud new owner of an induction hob last year, I needed to replace my aluminium pans fairly urgently! I looked at all the poncey ones with little photos of TV chefs on them, and finally found two saucepans and a frying pan, all with handy glass lids, well-balanced and with plastic handles (ie don't get hot) for £25 the lot in Homebase smile

Check out le creuset's stainless steel range - very well made; I've got the 24cm saute pan and use it for absolutely everything.

When it comes to stainless saucepans, just look for something with a reasonably thick aluminium sandwich base and decent heavy construction. Doesn't really matter what the brand name on it is.

Another vote for this range - good quality/price balance.

Check out the Tesco Finest range.
Stainless with copper bottoms for not a lot of cash.
Good value IMHO...
