Florence (non-Machine)
Discussion
Any recommendations for a nice, cosy restaraunt in or around Florence? The girlfriend and I are off to a wedding on Saturday and I'd like to take her out later in the week. Prefer if it wasn't too expensive, a nice view would be... well, nice I suppose.
I'm thinking roof terrace, insects, snotty waiters, decent food for up to €80 all in - what are my chances?

the best restaurant I found was one called Tre Merli (three blackbirds)
it's in a nondescript road, no views and nothing that special to look at but the food is to die for - the tagliolini al cinghiale was simply awesome

I was very pleasantly surprised by a restaurant just over the Ponte Vecchio. Turn left, about 25mtrs up and it's right on the river. Predominantly white building IIRC (as you look at it from the "city side" of the river).
Not cosy as such, but the view was great, service great and food very good.

Cafe italiano is one of my faves, nice wholesome local dishes, rather than flash restaurant stuff. Good wines too.

Although if you did want to go very flash, Enoteca Pinchiorri might fit the bill. The diningroom is a bit frilly, but the service was great, very nice food (albeit not amazing), but the wine list is proper epic.

Mind you, the wife and I didn't get much change out of a Gorgillion quid

Many thanks for the replies but we left before I could take advantage. Did end up having the most beautiful steak though - this was well outside of Florence, a small town off the Fi-Pi-Li near Montegufoni Castle where we stayed for a wedding (wasn't asked how I'd like it so I left it to the chef - rare of course, beautiful green pepper and onion sauce- never had one so rare before, quite delicious but the digestive system wasn't so sure!).
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
