Freezing mushrooms

If I put sliced mushrooms in the freezer will they keep and not go mushy when I want to use them again?

Damn, Tesco didn't have any already frozen mushrooms. Should have gone for onion rings instead hehe

Fry the mushrooms in butter, then freeze them. When thawed you won't be able to tell the difference between these and freshly cooked.

How about Basil? Can I freeze it? In some water then in the freezer I think I read in Bella once....

It's a pain cooking for 1 sometimes

Why not just get a potted Basil plant and simply tear off a few leaves when you want some smile

If you've only got a few mushrooms over and can't be arsed cooking them, slice them thinly and stick them on kitchen towels either in the sun or on a radiator until they're completely dry, then store them in an air-tight jar.

I dry mushrooms if I collect more wild fungi than I can immediately use, however drying works just as well with cultivated - especially the darker varieties like chestnut mushrooms or shiitake.

Use the dried 'shrooms as 'taste adders' crumbled into soups, stews and risotto.

tend to wash and freeze them, works fine in a noodle soup

when cooking them, mix in some balsamic vinegar, dash of wine and or port, some crushed peppers and a tsp of honey
