Lemongrass

As the supply of Lomongrass the shops is usually not that cheap (if you use lots), and doesn't look all that fresh (less flavour) I was thinking of trying to grow it.

Doing a bit of reading, apparently it isn't that hard to grow. Anyone tried it? They say just stick a stalk in a glass of water, and after a few weeks when it roots, plant it in soil. Will it grow over winter if I start now on a south facing window sill?

Yep, started out the seeds as you would with any other plant.

It just grows easy really, it's not as big as the stuff you buy in the shop but it's September and it's still getting bigger.

Have a go you've nothing to lose.

Al, can you take a photo of how big your Lemongrass has grown? You are right, I have nothing to lose! My first try at growing chilli's has been only a half successful, but I should have better results next year

Cheers Al, I was worried that they would grow to something huge. But I could easily hide them in the garden somewhere, by a fence in summer.

Have you tried cooking with anything you have grown yet?

No not yet, but it might get incorporated into a beef rendang curry this weekend.
