This, I grant you, is a trivial point in these turbulent times but needs airing none the less!

As a regular stayer in business type hotels, I've noticed a gradual withdrawal of guest biscuits over the past year. After a long drive, I always looked forward to a borborn or custard cream with my UHT milk infused brew...but no more.

I was informed today by the staff of the Holiday Inn in Chester that the Intercontinental Group previously spent in excess of $1m annually, worldwide on such perks and decided that it was money they need not spend any more.

Bah bleedin' humbug!

I can't say I have ever eaten the complementary bisquits at a hotel. If they look decent they sometimes go in the pocket for a later occasion, but i've never arrived at a hotel looking forward to the free biscuit!

Funny you should say this as I was musing the same on Wednesday. The place I stay at regularly appears to have changed their biscuit policy so that you get a pack on your first night, but if you stay for subsequent nights, they are not replenished!

I love biscuits.

Oddly enough whilst in Morrisons this week I came across packs of small biscuits that previously I'd only seen with coffee in pubs and restauarants - you'll have to get your fix there!

ETA: I hope they reduced your room rate by the cost of two biscuits!

You are obviously staying in the wrong type of establishment. The place I stayed at last week had a decanter full of whiskey in my room that I was entitled to have as much of as I want. drunk

Stayed in similar - decanters of whisky, brandy and gin in the bar in the suite, help yourself.

Some places are removing tea making facilities from work areas, on the grounds it saves money and 'doesnt really matter'. On the contrary, id say these small things DO matter, more than management think. with the removal of so many perks theres no benefit of being PAYE nowdays.

I'm pleased to report the presence of complimentary biscuits in various Hilton hotels in London of late, usually Scottish shortbread which is a favourite.

depends where you stay. theres a place i sometimes go with work that have amazing homemade biscuits. i usually stash them for a couple of days then eat them in one go, and nick them from colleagues rooms at every opportunity!
