Their current radio ad campaign defies belief.

Even the labels now mark it as "horrid". And on one ad on the radio, the kid says he hates the stuff and actually makes the sound of wretching as he eats it. The argument is that although it tastes horrible, you should buy it anyway because theyre giving away audio books. Im sure the ipod generation are ecstatic at that prospect....

Surely their "You either love it or hate it" tag line was better. Am I missing something?

Good chance for Kraft to capitalise with this:

Which as we all know, is much better anyway. biggrin

Vegemite is nothing like marmite.

I like both.

I am not an Australian.

Pretty sure they still are doing the love it or hate it thing - as well as the "horrid" labels, there are "perfect" ones.

Sorry - going totally O/T here.. but it was pistonheads where I first saw it:

Do they still that Guniess marmite?

I actually quite like marmite - but not too much, if I'm having 4 slices I'll only have it on 2 of them.

Not doing the Guiness one any more, had a jar and it really wasn't that good tbh. I have a Marston's Pedigree one sat in my cupboard at home, made with yeast from the official beer of England cricket. Haven't opened it yet.

Or is it Business, as the original question was whether their new ad campaign was a good one?

Isn't the "horrid" labelling referring to the fact that the audio books they are giving away are horid henry stories?

I doubt it's similar to Ratner's. Most people are aware of Marmite's previous campaigns, so this is just and extension of that.
If they suddenly came out and said "haha, it's made from the crap left over when they make beer. It costs us tuppence to make and we sell it to you idiots for two quid a jar." then maybe they'd have some problems.

I doubt marmite really need to bother advertising anyway do they?

It's so universally loved (apart from the weirdos that don't like it) that most people would go on buying it anyway regardless of what the adverts are about.

I love it smile

Even 'bad' press is press. Sometimes you have to look a bit leftfield to bound the name about.
The fact is that most people will know if they like it or not. Those who don't still won't touch it, but those who do will have the advert in their head.
