my shot at a posh version of a hot pot.

10 lamb cutlets, carrots and potatoes sliced on the mandolin (only one plaster required), shredded leeks and shallots. Currently bubbling away in the oven in a reduction of Leffe Brune and chicken stock.

'her indoors will be dining on a salad with a griddled lemon pepper chicken breast and sour dough croutons.

Anyone else rattling the pots and pans tonight?

Doesn't your preferred Indian vendor deliver ice cold overpriced beer with your provender?

Having a stab at marinated pork ribs with sweetcorn, partly for a change, and partly as they are so cheap!

ETA- And very nice it was, too! I tried a photo for the other thread, but I can't win at the moment- our living room uplighter has gone to the big landfill in the sky and on my attempt in the kitchen the lens steamed up. furious

How was it? Did you see Saturday Kitchen with the Shepherd's Pie made from a whole roast lamb shoulder?

I am going to do one this week.

It was lovely, though I over reduced the sauce somewhat, so had to add an emergency half pint of vegetable bouillon (the Swiss powdered stuff).

Saw Saturday kitchen, that lamb looked gorgeous!

As I have a load of stuff in the fridge and freezer I am trying not to go shopping apart for bread and milk. So this afternoon I will be attempting to make the following:

Spinach and feta pasties
Lettuce soup
Cherry muffins
Pecan shortbread
brunch bars (take all bottom of cereal box shrapnel and mix with condensed milk - yum

However I have got a load of bananas going brown, half a foodbag of damsons, peppers and some other bits I am a bit stuck about. Any ideas most welcome.

Trace smile

Edited to add: And a savoy cabbage that I don't know what to do with.

Weekend dinner phase two:

Fillet steaks tenderised with a spot of mixed peppercorns, cyder vinegar, and thyme - cooked rare.
Served with steamed broccoli, frites and an oxtail jus.

Bottle of cheeky South African Pinotage breathing right now.

Have you been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and assumed that soup made of green-leafed veg was a new diet fad?
