There is talk of a Chinese Takeaway in the household...

Only I'm on a diet, Anything vaguely low-fat on the menu...

I would have a stir-fry, but your typical take-away is more like a "stir-down-the-bd-food-in-two-litres-of-vegetable-oil"

Thai Red or Green curry? good/bad/ugly?

Cheers

Boiled rice?
Other than that most Chinky( takeaway) food is full of salt, MSG & oil. But it does taste yum

Chicken Chop Suey and Boiled Rice is about as healthy as you will get I reckon.

The menu itself is probably quite low in fat, other than that I think you may struggle, other than boiled rice or steamed veg. If you cut the menu up quite finely you might be able to stir into into the veg, or wrap it in a pancake.

Forget the chicken....and just go veggie. And get beansprouts rather than rice

According to <ahem> Mrs MM's slimming world book:

boiled rice = free. So you can eat as much of it as you want

Chicken in oyster sauce (375kg serving) = 4.5 syns (points)

or

Beef in black bean sauce (360kg serving) = 5.0 syns

Note: you are allowed 15 syns a day (apparently)

Avoid prawn crackers, crispy duck, fried rice, noodles etc like the plague.

Depends on type of rice as to how healthy it is eg brown is best followed by basmati. And rice is complex carbs hence good but if losing weight should eat carbs early in the day rather than evening meal.

So essentially if your a huge fat fk skip the takeout and grill yourself something, if minor weight loss needs go for it but eat smaller portions and knock up some salad to go with it.

That's not a lot of calories for 2/3 of a tonne of food. . . . . . .

Had a special chow mein last night which was yum (although a wee bit oily)

....and have felt mildly vomit all day

Probably loaded with MSG etc - shan't be doing that again in a hurry nono

I think you'd be better ordering something else!
For truly healthy you might get king prawn, steamed veg, and plain rice, but it ain't going to be fun, and it is Friday!

A guide here: http://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/util/art/index_art...
Thai green curry seems to be off the menu, too (cocococonut milk, I guess).

I already had my "silly" quota for the week, beers on wednesday and a massive stack of pancakes for breakky with the boy this morning! smile

I've managed to talk him out of the takeaway in favour of a nice healthy stir-fry done at home! smile

Thai curry ain't good because of the coconut milk. I would get a small amount of Chinese roast pork, some steamed or stir fried veg and steamed rice. Just don't pig out and eat the whole tub of pork.

I didnt realise coconut milk was a massive sin to be honest, I dont use it that often in cooking though! I'm guessing its crammed with sugar?

I'll have to check the back of a tin in the cupboard!

That's a pretty stupid diet book then.

Cram yourself full of carbs, that will turn to fat if you don't burn them off...

fk a duck, that's appalling! Will stick to making tikka masala with low-fat yoghurt instead!
