I've never thought of Ostrich as strange. It was the meat of choice while growing up. My mom preferred cooking with it, especially as mince, since it it so much lower in fat than beef.I've also tried Mopani worms and buffalo. Not sure of anything else I've eaten would be considered strange. Not even sure about crocodile since my dad, when I was a nipper, was often dining on the likes of frogs legs and escargot, not to mention all sorts of exotic seafoods, and I would often be offered a taster. So I'm sure something like crocodile would have been on the menu at some point.
We regularly have wild meats on our menu. We've had Bison, which was outstanding. Shark and Springbok too.
The Mrs is an Aussie, so for Australia day we had a special dinner with Kangaroo, Shark, Ostrich and Barramundi, all of which were mighty good. Although I think these days these foods aren't seen as that unusual.
Now whole guinea pig, that's slightly different !
