McDonald's appreticeship

I braved the rain this morning because I really felt like having a McDonald's breakfast. I ended up eating one breakfast in, and taking another away 
A lady, who I assume was the manager, took my first order, who instructed an obvious first timer to get the customer [me] a coffee. This he does effortlessly, and may well have earned him his first gold star. But then the manager advised him that he should have asked whether I wanted sugar, and then placed my coffee and sugar on the tray, and not on the counter opposite where I was stood. Perhaps she shpuld have put the tray closer to me so that it was obviously for me!
By the time i'd decided to get second breakfast to take home, the trainee had been let loose with serving food. When I say let loose, I mean treated with kids gloves to get him through the a difficult training session.
I didn't hear all the conversation because the manager and another lady seemed not to want to embarrass the lad. I wish the oldies were this considerate when I was an engineering apprentice... b

What I did hear was:
Manager to lad "No open the bag first"
Manager to other female assistant "No, let him do it on his own"
By this stage a closed bag was in one of the young lads hands, and my muffin in the other. He was screwed
Eventually they all progress to where my lovely hash brown to be was. I didn't hear the discussion but it took a full 2 minutes to get it into my bag.... which was followed by the manager instructing the lad how to closed the bag and fold the top over.
So there you have it. McDonald's apprenticeships can be jst as long as any other industry if the trainee is wet enough behind the ears.
To be fair, I guess McDonald's have procedures which may have made the poor chap a bit nervous.
But what's going to happen when all the shoppers hit town at 10am

I had a coffee, which as usual was only a degree or two below boiling... and yet they now serve hot apple pies warm because someone took the biggest single mouthful of hot apple pie (the clue's in the name love) and burnt her mouth. Had an orange juice (FYI) to take away.justin220 said:

Now, now, don't turn this into an anti-Mcdonalds thread. I for one am glad there is a place for those who consider eating industrial slurry amongst chavs and doleys to be an acceptable dining experience so I don't have to mix with them! As someone who works there part time, this just sounds all too familiar of being a trainee and being spoken to like that, the amount of protocols they have in the company is ridicilous. I generally stand by the fact that someone eating a McDonalds generally couldn't care less whether the cheese on his burger is at a 45° to the other or not, just so they get some cheese no matter which way they bite the burger (Yes, that really is what they expect you to do).

If you're ever in France have one of their breakfasts in MacDonlands - they're great !! Lived on them for a couple of weeks when I was touring around.
I seem to remember you got pancakes, yogurt, orange juice, hash browns, sausage, Egg McMuffins, coffee and all sorts !!
Well worth standing outside until they opened after spending a night in a st french hostel.
