Any Good Pubs In Dover

A colleague and myself are going to Dover on a course for a few days at the end of this week. We both like real ales. Can anyone recommend any good pubs in Dover?

None that I know, but there'll be bluebirds over....

i know of a mate that works in a pub that does real ale and proper beer, but for the life of me i can't remember the name of the place, will get in touch with him and let you know

You can do worse than checking out Blakes.

They have a well stocked cellar bar and a nice restaurant upstairs.

(It used to be run by my Aunt & Uncle before they retired a couple of years ago)

The Coastguard at St Margaret's Bay a little way out of Dover is good - about the only decent ale pub there(says the Dover bred chap next to me).

I've drunk there and can confirm this, road is VERY narrow to get to it and the food although good, isn't cheap.

The Coastguard is a nice pub indeed, the Aunt i mentioned above actually lives on the cliff top overlooking The Coastguard.

The Yew Tree in Barfreston is good, outskirts of Dover, Ben's a decent chap and has some excellent dishes.

MOH used to cycle that way quite regularly when he lived in Dover (probably about 15 years ago he last rode that way)
