Fooking ell that's an expensive set of scales!
We've just got a set of slimline Salter electronic scales - they do the job fine and then slide back into the side of the cupboard. They look a bit like this but they are all black and I think they were a bit cheaper.

I have these, which for the price are a bargain, measure in 1 g / 0.1 oz / 1 ml increments. Also very slim and easy to store.

I've got a set in a box somewhere that were my Nan's, I really must find them. For ordinary purely functional kitchen scales I have no idea why anyone would want to spend Dualit money but then I've always been a bit adverse to chucking money around on things just because they are trendy!

I bought one of those last year, though I use it to check the weight of the change bags for the shop. It is very useful though and accurate http://www.amazon.co.uk/Salter-Design-Electronic-P...
