Which goes first?

After a long argument with my friends about the highly debated subject of scones, we couldn't come to a conclusion. So i decided to put it to the PH masses.

Which goes first, the jam or the cream?

I stopped speaking to several friends about 9 years ago cos they were arguing that you put salt on chips first then the vinegar!! Oh what, and wash off all the salt?

I think the problem here is you are asking the question as if there was a right or wrong answer. There isn't, its just personal preference.

Also as a right wing bigot of the first water I'm also a great believer in salt then vinegar. Your argument holds no water. If you put salt on second, on wet chips, it will clump so some chips far too much others not enough.

At least that's what my valet tells me.

Cream then jam on the Scone issue, by the way.
