I went to a reasonably nice restaurant a couple of weeks ago, and had a main course with a selection of grilled meats. Basically a posh mixed grill.

I was tucking into one of the steaks (I think it was goose), and almost shattered a tooth on a shotgun pellet! I mentioned it to the maitre d' and he kindly removed my main course from the bill. Mentioned something about shooting their own goose in the fields around the back. irked

I also found a caterpillar in my salad once.

What oddities have PH'ers found?

Shot is quite common in game. Bit lax of the chef not to have made absolutely sure!

My wife found a slug in a burger in TGI Fridays in Glasgow once. I'm never going back (to Glasgow that is.) hehe

Years back, my ex girlfriends sister (a liberal, right-on, vegetarian of a woman) reckoned she found some beef in a "quorn" lasagne that I had made for them all coming round for dinner. Oops. Of course, I denied it...

could've been worse, you might have been serving beef fillet stuffed with bacon cheese and peppers and then realised the chap tucking in opposite is muslim...

I once found a piece of tinfoil shaped like a crescent moon in a sausage, otherwise it's mainly been hair and a lack of taste.

Why? The slug was probably the most nutritious part of it! wink

I found part of a comb in an M&S sandwich once. Had to eat the rest of the sandwich though as I was starving and it was the only place open at the Motorway services.

When I was a kid I found a bit of peanut in my KitKat. Having heard tales at school of people being given "hundreds of pounds" for finding foreign articles in their food, I packed it up, and sent it off to the KitKat people. A couple of weeks later I got a letter back saying they were sure the peanut must have got in there after it was made as they don't do nuts in their factory (despite the fact it was buried in the chocolate) and I got a 50p off voucher for a multipack of KitKats. bds.

We once found something that resembled a chunk of tyre in a curry. Solid chunk of rubber.

A mate of mine used to work in a large confectionery factory.

To this day he can read the code on a packet of sweets and advise which flavours to avoid as a result of who worked on that line.

A really long piece of string (about 2 feet) in a takeaway pizza.

A lump of wood in a loaf of bread.

I once found a pea in a Bells macaroni pie. Put me right off my pie that did.
