Japanese cook book

I'm of a fancy to purchase for myself a good Japanese cookbook (in English though) and wondered whether any of you foodies had any recommendations.

I'm not averse to making my own sauces etc so I'm not really after one that says "Teryaki Chicken. Ingredients: Teryaki sauce, Chicken. Method:Cook chicken in pre-bought Teryaki sauce. Done." but similarly I don't have necessarily easy access to obscure Japanese ingredients.

So - any suggestions?

i have the wagamama and yo! cookbooks. they cover their standard restaurant fayre plus a lot more, i was surprised.

both books are great for the sauces etc. i'm sure i saw the wagamama one on the high stret for a fiver last week, and the yo! book comes with a 25% discount on your next visit. if you are a sushi monster like me it pays for itself!

that was last week matey. this week was just an add on for the 5kg of sweets. beer o clock for me in half an hour.

I believe this one would fit the bill. I use our copy a lot: the recipes are very good, simple and authentic and it covers pretty much all of the dishes you would want to make. Nice and cheap too.
