I'd do a poll but I never get the option so instead just tell us what you are going to be serving? Will it be the traditional Turkey in the UK or something more game based, or even left field?

I'm tending towards guinea fowl again this year as they are more tasty than chicken, not as dry as turkey and have more dark meat on the legs. Also I can just get away with eating a whole one to myself without my mum telling me how much I should be eating (I am 40 years old after all).

Then again I might buy a goose.

What will you be doing as the center piece ?

I've got a turkey, sized for 5-7 people. This will be roasted the day before covered in bacon, carved cold and warmed with gravy.
Then on the day, I'll be roasting a 2-rib forerib.
Add pigs in blankets, sausagemeat, stuffing, a giant yorkshire, carrots roasted in maple syrup, spuds, sweet potatoes...

All that for just MrsJimothy and I.

Bliss!

I have ordered a min 6kg organic bronze turkey, pick it up from the farm on Thursday slow grown, hand plucked it better be good. Pigs in blankets, Roast (goose fat) & mash potatoes, sprouts with melted Stilton, roast parsnip and carrots in a chili maple syrup glaze and stuffing. Normally don't bother as the Mrs and the boys aren't bothered but we are having her mum, dad, brother and sister so I get the chance to indulge.

Turkey seems to be ruling the roost again, pardon the pun.

As an aside normally I do my own stuffing, get a pack from the supermarkets and add my own onion, garlic and lemon zest, plus home grown herbs. Problem is I end up with about 1lb worth and my wife and relations don't like it that much. So this time I saw the below in Tesco's

That is the right portion size, the ingredients sound good and it will be one more thing I don't have to do. However it is yet another cheat. I already cheat on the Yorkshire pudds as they are from my favourite auntie, Aunt Bessie. getmecoat

At this rate I'll be popping down to the housewife's favourite Iceland and getting a traditional English Tikka Masala Turkey Christmas family meal in a box.

Porterhouse Steak with a skewer of prawns with a harb and garlic butter. Roast potatoes and steamed veg probably. Although I have had dauphinoise suggested (on here!) which sounds like a good idea.

Until we decided we were chez parents this year (which will be turkey), there were heavy leanings towards a bbq meat feast pizza with stuffed crust, followed by ice cream. Om.

If any of you can beat our friends' 19kg (41lb) thanksgiving turkey, I will be impressed!

We are going to be having a braai (BBQ) by the pool, in the sunshine, in Durban.

My request for Durban curry fell on deaf ears - that's boxing day biggrin

Have both potatoes Don, sounds fantastic, I knew from previous threads you were aiming towards the beef main.

I've bought my wife this for Christmas

So we will be having ribeye on Boxing day. Not that I am thinking of myself when I bought it of course. Ahem.

We always have a traditional Christmas Dinner with the exception of the turkey, which is replaced with chicken... as it's tastier than turkey and quicker/easier to cook.

We told everyone we were going on holiday but have since changed our minds, as a result the two of us have no invites and nowhere to go so I'll be watching this thread for ideas on a smaller scale smile

For two (plus meat to pick at) I'd suggest a really good slowly-reared organic chicken. 'Sheepdrove Farm' from Waitrose, alternatively ask for recommendations for farms / butchers in your area.
