Although it's clouded over a bit now we'll still have a barbie this evening (as it's summer in NZ). Just wondering how much these essentials would cost in other countries (prices in pounds, and yes the pound is very weak) - VAT at 12.5% is on everything.

2 bottles NZ Sauv Blanc 7.00
1 bottle sparkling rose 3.50
Porterhouse steak, .8kg 8.00
Lamb chops .6kg 3.00
Chicken breast fillets .83kg 5.00
Chicken drumsticks 1 kg 3.00
Decent sausages .4kg 2.00

A large salad, homemade bread and lots of roast potatoes - total cost about 35 quid.

So how much for this sort of spread in Europe, UK, South Africa, US, Canada etc?

The prices don't seem too dissimilar to what they are in the UK. When I first read your post I didn't see the decimal point and was about to start swearing and booking my flights.

How was said barbecue?
