I can't say I'm suprised, the wife and I went last month and it was poor, definately a case of trading on an old reputation. There are plenty of better restaurants located close to Claridges if you are staying there !

We have been twice, once in March 2008 and once in early 2009. In both cases the food was excellent, however on the second visit the service was not very good and let down the whole experience considerable. We said we would not go back.

I also notice that Richard Corrigan has lost his Star at Lindsay house. This was excellent in Dec2008 when we went. RC was in the kitchen that night. I know he now has another place so I assume he's taken his eye off the ball.

Edit - Just looking at that list, another 3 star. Damn I was hoping to get the full set this year! Also weirdly the Royal Oak is listed as a new addition in Bray, it's not really in Bray but Paley Street/Maidenhead.

Yeah, it's not in Bray it's 4 miles away and it's not in Maidenhead either. Obviously been put in the article because it belongs to Parky and his son, indeed as he lives in Bray you'd think he know where Paley Street is! It used to be a pub but since Parky bought it it's now a Gastro-pub with £2.50 scotch eggs Went there a few times when it opened but gave up because it's rather cliquey and very expensive for what it is... a pub. IMO there are far better pubs in the area where you can get better beer and a decent meal but they, of course, don't have Michael Parkinson as patron.

There has been a price increase on the menu since you were last there! Must have been down to the Darling Brown VAT increase

It might seem expensive but if you go there and manage to drag MP away from the cliquey locals for a chat then IMO it will be worth it.

Parky's probably eating at the Cottage Inn, where I've seen him in the past. Maybe he can't afford to eat at the Royal Oak

lindsay house is no more. is now simply 'corrigan's of mayfair' and is in upper grosvnor st and for the record it is wonderful.
