Currently I make my sandwiches for lunch and store them by using this food wrap stuff

However, if i get one of these plastic storage boxes do they do much the same thing?

secondly, when i grate my cheese for said sandwich and put the cheese back in the fridge the edge starts to go hard because its not airtight. if i frate all of the cheese and stick it in one of the above boxes will it keep it all nice in the fridge and stop it going hard?

Don't grate cheese and expect it not to go hard. As more surface area is exposed to the air, it hardens quicker when grated. Wrap your cheese in foil and put it in the fridge - I find this keeps it perfectly fresh.

Just out of interest, I've always used cling film for storing cheese. Is tinfoil better?

I find the zip lock food bags good for keeping cheese and other foods nice and fresh

I have this confession. My wife buys that cheap cheddar from the supermarket and I hate the stuff as it has no taste and has consistency of plastic. The dog likes it though.

However, we don't eat it that quickly and it tends to go hard around the edges .. and I really like that bit, the taste gets stronger and it is no longer as plastic in texture.

Andy, you truly are the FD&R resident filth-meister. Good work.
