Had friends round yesterday - good old friends - so no fancy dinner party but good honest food

Creamy sweet potatoe soup (with added star anise, cinnamoon and nutmeg to give it a wintery twang)

Leg of venison, stuffed with chopped mushroom and venison sausage, in saltcrust with red cabbage and potatoe pancakes

Pears in mulled wine with vanilla ice cream

All washed down with a 99 Chianti...
I am still full

Blimey, that IS my fancy dinner party menu. Well, the leg of venison bit anyway. If this is normal for you, I need to up my game!
