So my other half and I are compiling our wedding list.....I want a blender so for me it's automatically a Blendtec Blender. I mean, these things have Tom Dickson frying iPhones with it! It has to be good!!!!

However.....my other half and a friend rave on about Kitchenaid blenders.....

Anyone here have either and which is the better choice?

Boring question...why do you want a blender? I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I have used one...
So, 3 times then....think about it......its supposed to be a joke about him losing some digits while blending...... no? Oh b
ks to you all then. I laughed...LittleMiss said:
There are very few jobs which require a heavy duty blender, I'll put money on that ending up in the back of a cupboard because it takes up too much space and is a PITA to clean, I'd just invest in a hand blender http://www.johnlewis.com/230855939/Product.aspx
I've already got one of these and it gets used all the time. My wife and I make a lot of soups, smoothies and all sorts and the hand one is just not up to the task.
I'm also a bit of an amateur cook so I like to try new things all the time.....

Ask for honeymoon vouchers instead. When you look back at the wonderful things your marriage means and the loving memories of that first blender together ... do you really want a blender? Really?
Actually, since the wedding will be in Bulgaria (as my wife is Bulgarian), and we live in Austria and most of the guests will be from UK, Austria, Bulgaria, Spain, France and Colombia, we're actually asking for cash. Because of this, we're putting together a wedding list so our guests know what we're buying.....
If you're sticking a list together for the rest of the guests to see what you're buying, just bung any old thing down. That gives you many months with the money in the bank pondering the fineries of blender technology, you could even ask for a demonstration in the shop to really compare what blender makes the best smoothie instead of asking the internets, we'll just guess and press any old button on a poll.
Edit: Hooraaaay, I guessed the same as everyone else!

You are probably right, but seeing as my missus has now caught on to the Kitchenaid one, I just wanted to get the opinion of the other....To be honest, putting together this list is the least stressful part of organising my wedding. I'm sure I'll enjoy the day and it'll be worth it, but the amount of stress, arguments and so forth to plan it all is ridiculous. I'll never do it again!!!!

It's she by the way, so I can multi task so I've got all my digits
(I may have blown the lid off a liquidiser once though having not fitted it properly
)Personally I can't see a role for a stand alone blender, I have a couple of stick blenders, one really cheap and nasty one and a more expensive Braun and they both blend big pans of soup with no problem at all. I can't imagine faffing around with transferring to a blender and back again. I certainly couldn't imagine faffing around making a smoothie in a blender with all the washing up, better to use a plastic jug...
If your OH really wants a kitchenaid I'd go for an Artisan mixer with an additional liquidiser. The mixer will be useful (and is a thing of beauty on its own!) plus you can add mincers, pasta makers etc.
