Just opened a bottle of my dads 17 year old elderberry wine,WOW!it tastes like Madeira wine.Im going to try the the bottle,will update in the morn if im still here.

Yep, elderberry and elderflower are always two good bankers for home-made wine.

(Beer brews, wine ferments)

Where my family originate from (Estonia) they make a lovely sweet red wine called 'Põltsamaa Tõmmu' from elderberries, plus a few other things. It's a bit like port, but with more of an acidy zip, and gets better with age.

Sadly all too drinkable. Hence I can't imagine that OP has died - more like suffering a weapons-grade hangover.

Been there. frown

Yep i survived,could only handle 2 glasses of it tho after a few bottles of red wine(wolfbass yellow label).I used the rest to marinade a couple of duck fillets,then reduced it with some red cherries.Lovely!
