Pi**heads - Beer Matters
Discussion
As you may have guessed from the title this thread is about your favourite tipple.
Whether it be a swift half at lunchtime or a pint or two after work, most of us enjoy a cold bevvy.
How much do you pay for a pint? What is your preferred afterwork thirst quencher? Do you find variation in price from region to region whilst on your travels? Whats the most youve ever payed for a pint? etc etc etc
I suppose this follows on from the other pub thread about why pubs are closing down, which got me wondering what the average pub going pistonhead drinks, what you think is an unacceptable price to pay etc etc
Personally I prefer Heineken on draught but find it can be a little expensive (i.e over £3 a pint) in some places.
Carling as an acceptable substitute (cheap too), Peroni is bloody lovely but is very much over £3 a pint which makes it a high days and holidays lager.
Also I am in Swansea so beer is relatively cheap in comparison to ooh, I dont know... London, where I once got bent over the bar, VBRJ'd by the barman and relieved of over 9 pound for a pint of kronenburg and a small rose.
Apologies in advance for my poor prose, a writer I am not.
So what do you drink then?
Eta: apologies, when I wrote beer I meant lager/ale, anything that comes in a pint glass that you drink when your not driving really

I quite like that Becks Vier at the moment.
But drinking in Canary Wharf is an expensive past time....£4.50 for a pint of Peroni...nice.
Now thats scuppered my expectations, Peroni down here is about £3.90-£4.50, if its only £4.50 in Canary Wharf then would I be right in saying that its a bit of a rip down here, but reasonably(ish) priced in London? But drinking in Canary Wharf is an expensive past time....£4.50 for a pint of Peroni...nice.
Or is it just bloody expensive?
You've reminded me..
Stella 4% is lovely, as is becks vier. Magners pear is lovely but a little too sweet for me, cant drink more than 1 and its always a sitting in the sun, first drink sort of bevvy.
Have to make an admission aswell, I have never bought a pint of this ale you speak of.
Any readily available recommendations for me to have a crack at?

When I’m at home a nice cold bottle of Golden or Pale ale, such as Sharps Doom bar or Marston’s Empire does the trick!
When I’m down the pub I tend to try new or local stuff, there are some great ales down here in Cornwall, especially St Austell Proper Job!
As for Carling I wouldn’t put my house out with it if it was on fire! Also Southern Comfort and lemonade is not beer!
