I think the only benefit is it's easier to keep clean and looks smarter compared to gas hobs, but normally less control, depending on how expensive.

I'd agree with that (and of course there's not always a gas supply). You'll need to keep it clean though as stuff will burn on and look ugly.

However if you want clean, electric and quick then induction renders ceramic obsolete.

Unfortunately cannot have bottled gas at this place. Will be using portable stove for the wok. Still looking for any help and advice anyone can give on the use of ceramic hobs.
Thank you, Vanessa ( BtP TOH)

Ceramic hobs will work with any type of pan. Induction hobs will only work with steel / iron.

Doh!

Yes, induction hobs are brilliant, and nothing to do with ceramic hobs!

So is the only benefit of ceramic that they are easier to clean than a standard electric hob ?

Getting used to it but still need to get a portable stove for the wok. Also its now too late in the year for cooking outside so will have to find a place in the house to use it !

We've just replaced our old induction hob with a new one.

Incredable piece of kit, the old one wasnt bad but the new one kicks out so much power and is so quick to control, well chuffed with it.

Depending on the type of property of course, but alot of new build flats don't bother to plum gas in and everything is electric.
