Wine storage at home
Discussion
I have started looking into wine fridges / cellars as I have started to collect a good few lay down wines. My current store is dark, 17 - 18 deg and 50% humidity, but I don't think this is good enough.
Are all these £200 fridges on ebay any good or a waste of money. What have you guys got, and what should I be looking for. FWIW, I have a gap of 5' tall, 28" wide for this to sit.

Personally, I think that unless you've only got £200 worth of wine, there's no point buying a £200 wine cabinet.
John Lewis have a good selection, and deliver and take away the packaging as well.
I bought a Bosch 60-bottle jobbie (though it is possible to cram more in) a few years back, and have been very pleased with it.

I've got (sorry, had) this one - it went to the ex when we split:

It has a larger capacity than I thought: 120 bottles. It will fit widthways in the space you have, but may be too tall. 'Mine' lives in the second bedroom in a corner.

If you have the space and can afford to tie up a few hundred quid laying down wine is really worthwhile IMHO. You get to drink much nicer wine for a pretty similar outlay (or even less) than you would if you just buy it when you want to drink a bottle.
Our next move will be out of the smoke to a bigger house in the sticks at which point I hope to have room to keep the wine at home....at the moment I keep most of the wine I buy stored with the merchant.
