Somewhere For Dinner In/Near Oswestry
Discussion
Okay, I'm staying here in Oswestry for the night and as it's a long way from home and I've never been here before I have no idea where to get some dinner! Anything goes really - cheap, expensive(ish!), Indian, Italian, British - whatever!
I thought PH might have a recommendation or two! Cheers.

Come over to sunny Shrewsbury. We're only 20 mins away. As said the Walls isn't too bad...All depends on type of food you're after. Try and get in before 10pm tonight...its safer!
Used to be a good Indian in town...Might be called Simla but not sure if its still there

I've been on holiday around there a few times, if you want a meal and then a blast along a good driving road later I think eating at The New Inn in Llangynog then a drive over the B4391 towards Bala would be a good evening.
The New Inn isn't anything special but it is friendly (honest!) and the food is good. There is another pub just over the road called the Tanat Inn if you don't like the look of it.

Oswestry?
Good food?
Er, no.
As others have said, either head down the A5 to Shrewsbury or out towards Wales, turn right at Llynclys and have a blast over to Bala on the B4391. The pub i'd recommend for food is just after a small village called Penybont Llanerch-Emrys on the right hand side. Despite having eaten good food there and driven past it at least twice a day with work, I can't remember what the bloody hell it's called.

Well that was interesting! Arrived at the Walls place at 7pm (as I had booked) and it seemed to be hosting some sort of business party with loads of blokes in suits. Thought all seemed a bit odd as there wasn't anyone else who wasn't part of the big group and the staff never approached me, despite standing by the door and being the only person not wearing a suit. After a few minutes of trying to figure out if I definitely was in the right place, I thought sod it and went hunting for the Indian restaurant called Simla that's mentioned above. I found it and got a table no problem. It's very much still there - there were signs up mentioning their 34th anniversary in a couple of weeks' time. I thought the food was very nice and was a bit cheaper than the ones at home. Not sure about Oswestry itself, though - a few too many old Subarus with stupid exhausts doing laps of the high street for my liking!
