Off topic for FD&R I know, but I was wondering which routes people were planning on taking to Wales this weekend...?

I've got a choice from Oxfordshire either to head North: M40/M42/M5 then A roads through the Brecon Beacons, or head down to the M4 via the A420 - from the SatNav there is about 5 miles in it.

I think with the Bank Holiday traffic I'm favouring the Northern route... Any ideas?

Getting really excited now

Coming from Kent, im doing Kent to Staines M25. Have a break (only an hour) pick up wine, Simon and other half. Then M4 it all the way, if problems the divert using sat nav to avoid problems.

Sat nav will be on all the way as my speedo overeads, so at 80mph on the clock im doing 73mpg on the gps. I set the speed warning at 75mph assuming you will not catch a fine at that speed.

I'm going down to Bicester...then the A41/A34 to Oxford...then from Oxford, amazingly A40 for the rest of the journey smile
It's not fast, got a few 30s/40s/50s speed limits with scameras but I'll get there eventually smile

I live just outside Dorking so it will be M25 then M4.

A good tip to bypass the busiest sections of the M25 and M4 is to come off the M25 at the M3 junction, follow signs for Bracknell, then follow signs for Reading / M4.

The A40 route looks pretty interesting... I wonder if I can persuade the woman in the dashboard to let me take it... hehe

I don't have Sat Nav...so don't have that problem - The AA route planner tried to get me to go on to motorways...but I said no, no , no biggrin
( think Amy whinehouse song)

I'm going A40, have no idea what it will be like...but it'll get me there eventually biggrin

I'll probably get there later in the afternoon, when you lot probably are beer already! Turned on the TV, and Saturday Kitchen started, so getting ready sort of stalled!
