Good Grub in Bristol

I will be working down in Bristol for the next few days so am looking at some nice (ish) places to eat.

Im staying in the Marriott City center on castle street, so nothing miles away and have about 35 quid to spend (2 course) (i can pay for drinks seperatly if nice place)

No preference on type of food really!

Riverstation or SevernShed down on the harbourside. Riverstation is better but both are very nice with nice views and quality food (both mixed English/European modern food):

Myristica - if you want decent Indian food I don't think this place can be beaten in the centre. Really nice.

Zerodegrees - Modern, brew their own beer (which is brilliant), do some fantastic pizzas, all very affordable and very nice easy atmosphere.

If you're of a fishy bent, I recently ate at Loch Fyne click - very nice for a chain. Something a little more individual try the Olive Shed click - rustic but excellent.
San Carlo's click is also very good but you may struggle to get within your budget.

If you want something a little bit special then Bells Diner http://www.bellsdiner.com is worth a go - interesting food- blumenthal inspired. Its always an experience eating there. Also The Pump House http://www.the-pumphouse.com is worth a try and very good value and generally very high standard, maybe worth checking if the head chef is cooking before you go though as I’ve had several excellent meals there and one terrible (while the chef was on holiday). Both restaurants offer "fine dining" whereas in my opinion the others mentioned are more middle of the road (still nice enough though). Both are a little bit away from the centre (25min walk or 5 min taxi ride) worth it though.

Another idea would be the Albion in Clifton http://www.thealbionclifton.co.uk. I’ve always had good meals there. If you want something closer to the centre then Bordeaux Quay http://www.bordeaux-quay.co.uk does very honest French cooking. Glassboat is supposed to be alright but I haven’t eaten there.

If you want a good lunch, then Source in St Nicolas Market is a great place

Sadly there aren’t that many great restaurants in Bristol centre. If I was you, with that budget I would go to one of the first two that I mentioned. That’s if you want a memorable meal.

Riverstation is excellent. In the centre, the Rummer Hotel (in St. Nick's market) is very nice. Enjoy the walk back to the hotel, I would steer clear of murder castle park.

Well if we're going for places outside of the centre then there's nowhere in Bristol I'd recommend as much as Cafe Maitreya:

Which? Good food guides best vege restaurant in the country and it really is fantastic. The whole dining experience there is lovely and I've yet to have, or even see, any dish I haven't thought looked inspired and tasty. the service is top notch as well.

Otherwise the Albion is very good, or just around the corner the Primrose Cafe is a bit more interesting and special:

Bell's diner does probably have the most exciting menu in Bristol and seems to be rated as one of Bristol's best restaurants.

Anyway, I still maintain that all the ones I mentioned above are all very good places to eat and are central and convenient if you have limited time or want to be able to walk somewhere.
