Reaction to certain beers
Discussion
A few weeks ago, I was enjoying a few cold Budweisers. Later that night my throat was all tight and felt like I had a cold. Dismissed it, assumed I was actually getting a cold or a bug. Next morning, same symptoms, but wore off by lunch.
Fast forward a few days, the same thing happens, tight throat, couldn't take a deep breath. I've avoided it since and not had the issue.
Picked up some Stella 4% last weekend for a BBQ, same reaction. But much worse chest pains, a raspy cough and couldn't sleep as I couldn't breath very well!
Last night, decided to have 1 or 2 Stella 4%'s to see if I get the same reaction. I did, milder as I didn't drink as much.
I've sampled a few other beers, all in the name of research, but Grolsch, Kronerburg, Staropraman, Becks all seem fine.

Are you allergic to fish or seafood? A lot of breweries use fish finings to make the beer go clear.
Try drinking real beer - guinness or cask conditioned next to see if you get the same effect.
Budwieser do not use fish finings in thier finishing process.Try drinking real beer - guinness or cask conditioned next to see if you get the same effect.
You've probably got some sort of yeast intolerance. Most brewers will use a different generations of a very specific strain of yeast unique to their product so you can have different tolerances to different brands.
There is only a negligable amount of yeast left in modern processed lagers though so you shouldn't suffer serious reactions (i believe!)

Not beer, but wine - When I drink Chardonnay it tends to make me a complete, total, arse.... The last 2 times I've had any (in the past 4 years) have proven this so I now avoid it.... (That and I don't really like it)
Enough of most alcohols will do that, surly?I'm talking, unable to lie down as I can't breathe. A little worrying actually.

Try drinking real beer - you'll be farting for England all night long.

Becks always gives me a cracking headache in the event that I am forced down the "fizzy pop" route.
Sulphite allergy..?

I got a similar reaction to Fosters a few years ago (it was the only beer availiable!). It scared the st out of me as I couldn't breathe etc. I also noticed that the skin around any scars/tattoos went red as well.
I've started sticking to 'purer' beers now if I'm out for a sesh. Becks and other German beers to the old Rhineheitsgetbot (sp?) so are less likely to contain all the crap other brewers put into their produce.

I have had a similar reaction on occasion too. Kronenburg seemed to be the worst for me, but there were other lagers that seemed to cause it too.
It never happened drinking real ale or Guinness.
I think SilverMX's suggestion re: Sulfite Allergy is a good call, and I too now stick to German lager if possible as that seems to be ok.
Have you ever suffered with Asthma-like symptoms before?
