Anyone know of any restaurants worth visiting in Calais whilst on a booze cruise?

Thanks

Jim

If you have time head down to Le Touqet - about 30 mins south. Everything is a little nicer....

I haven't been myself, but had this place recommended recently.

www.aquaraile.com

Allegedly an extremely nice place.

(Usual disclaimers apply!)

Assuming you have a car, both Le Touquet and St Omer are much nicer than Calais.

Le Coq D'Or in the main square used to be nice years ago, have'nt been there for a while. Recommended by Artur Eperon in his Travelers France 30 yrs ago !!

If you're on a booze cruise (and not intending on getting the midnight crossing back) personally I wouldn't bother with lunch. By the time you've finished eating, what with the time difference and everything, it will be time to head back.

I'd get a baguette from the supermarket, and concentrate on filling your boot with those rare items which are actually cheaper in France now the £'s tanked against the Euro.

Or are simply unobtainable over here - Herbes de Provence, Savon de Marseille, the French version of 'Persil' laundry liquid (simply lovely), Ricard, rose veal and horse meat are my top buys.
