Probably been covered before but seeing as the search function isnt working......

Having a BBQ soon for some friends so thought I would get some hot sauces for those who like it spicy, I already have a bottle of Dave's Insanity Sauce so want something a bit hotter.

Where is best to buy from??

Any reccomendations??

Regularly use the following:

http://www.hot-headz.com

and

http://www.scorchio.co.uk/

both come highly recommended, and if you have favourite sauces, check out both sites as price differences can be quite beneficial on occasion.

I grow up with Antigua's Susies' and still find it one of the best sauces due to it not being overloaded with vinegar.

As a small boy, Miss Bailey at the local market used to make her own homebrew sauce which I used to bring back to the UK in 1ltr bottles for family and friends in my school trunk. The umpalumpas in Heathrow managed to drop the trunk and I swear the bleeding hotsauce ate my rugby kit. Good stuff.

They all look reasonably priced on the Scorchio site, I dont suppose you would happen to know which ones are hotter than the gormeut insanity sauce would you?

Or a bottle of 'da bomb: ground zero' from ebay if you're feeling really very silly indeed (or mean, great for bets!).

hot sauces leave me a little cold (hoho) tbh, yea they are hot, which I like, but they often don't taste as nice as a good handful of fresh chillis and some cayenne and onions etc

Not sure where my sister got them from ( and this phone's so clonky i'm not googling it now) but Holy Cow sauces are pretty good and suit a variety of tastes.

I agree.

I have maddog 357 bullit key chain edition, which is 600,000 scoville iirc.

It is hot, very, very hot.

But it has no pleasant flavour as such.

Just got a bottle of trees can't dance penine fire hot sauce and that is hot, but not ridiculously so (if you're used to spicy food). It also tastes nice though, and is enjoyable just with a bit of pitta bread for example.

Tried the mad dog again the other night in the same way, wow it's hot. lol

also had the mad dog - same conclusion. Tastes like spicy electrical smoke. Not nice. I think bottled hot sauces are for those that can't be arsed to chop chillis and roll their own. I reckon that the ranked hot sauces i.e. the hottest 30 or whatever are designed for penis size competitions only, and I reckon all of them will taste like st.

There is hot, which can be easily achieved by chucking a handful of fresh or even dried chillis into ANY marinade or sauce, then there is hot that is not enjoyable and is merely used for men to have some pub bragging rights and to laugh about while they stand around the BBQ trying to prove their masculinity while streaming tears

Just my 2p on these 'hot' sauces...

The Nandos hot and extra hot is also pretty good, Sainsbury stock it. The Tabasco Habanero is sweat inducing hot but tastes pretty good with it.

They are actual like marinade/dipping/pour-over sauces right? They seem to have more to them, more flavours. I guess you could get poncey and debate the relative merits of one versus another, or about brands but i agree with you, these are nice. I think hot sauces as such as a different thing - like tabasco versus say sweet chilli sauce. One is just for heat, the other is for a bit of heat plus decent taste.

Basically I've never made anything that tastes really good with hot sauce, if I recall. Just tends to swallow up the taste of everything else.
