The mrs cooked-up some prawns in piri-piri last night & some oven-hot bread.

Very nice.

About an hour later, I sliced up a fresh pineapple.

Oh dear, halfway though eating it, my lips swelled up & began to bleed & my tongue & mouth were on fire. The mrs had similar symptoms without the lips.

For the rest of the evening, I my gob looked like Mick Jaggers'.

Ouch.

Sounds like same knife was used to cut up piri-piri chillis and pineapple...

Quote common with Pineapple!

Pineapple enzymes are used to tenderize steak.

Apparently you can avoid this by removing the core (tough bit in the middle).

I used to get the same thing with seafood carpaccio if they used lime in the dressing. Appears as if the seafood and fruit acid mixture = swollen lips.
