Anyone eaten human before? I've accidentally cut myself with a knife before and when the blood got into stuff I was cooking not bothered about it on the basis it's unlikely to be harmful, but as anyone here actually practiced cannabalism somewhere it's socially acceptable?

According to the crime magazines my OH insists on buying it tastes like beef but sweeter and certainly not pork.

We aren't called the 'Long Pig' for nothing. And Jewish/Muslim banning of eating pork is more to do with cannibalism than health - cut the bone ends off and you can pass us off as pork, so I'm told.

As most females of that age are already lard arses, assumedly they would fetch a lower price at the market?

Oh yeah, perhaps the taste is pork , is the smell, also similar?

Interesting, the magazine (I accept may not be the last word in truthful facts) carried an interview with a guy who had eaten various parts and what made him take the first mouthful. He goes on to say he was hesitant at first and expected it to taste like pork but to his surprise it didn't.

Chewin' the Fat is severely underappreciated down south; I have the huge advantage of spending most of my childhood in Scotland (and my parents still live there, and I much prefer being up in glorious isolation there to down here in London) so I can understand what they're saying... I think around here no one would have a clue what they were saying... more would understand a Jamaican accent tbh...

A friend of mine is from Lagos - the Nigerians are quite partial to eating the other white meat, apparently it's not uncommon to see people barbecuing human limbs on the side of the road.

A lot of cannabilism is indulged in because of the belief that if you eat someone you gain their "power".

"Cannibal Holocaust" still shocks and is still banned in some countries.

I think it is available in the U.K. now,but cut.

Of course some eat Long Pig because they're hungry.

You could take the overview that it's wasteful to cremate/bury bodies when there are so many people starving of hunger. Indeed before we lived in a 'civilised society', if there was a dead body and you were hungry, it made a lot of sense to eat it.

And it would cut down the use of carrier bags, so the Co-Op would have to support it.

People aren't dying of hunger because there isn't enough food. They are dying of hunger because they cannot afford it.

ETA- and eating dead humans is a potent disease vector.

"Sleeping sickness" is transferred that way, but the same thing happens if you eat other bits. Fundamentally, human diseases transfer more easily to humans than other animal diseases.

I think if well cooked the only real danger is prions though, right?

Typical human is going to be rather old, presumably best done in a slow cooker or stewed or something.

That makes biological sense - but where are the human pathogens in a freshly prepared man-steak? And if the option is death by starvation, you'd be contra-evolutionary not to eat it. It's only meat; it's just the morals/ethics that clutter things up.
