Looking for a couple of decent places for pub lunch, decent beer and also somewhere for a good evening meal.

Could anyone suggest anywhere? We're staying in Windermere.

Thanks.

Eltermere Inn, for lunch or dinner. Great Location and great food. It's a drive from Windermere and is our current favorite. www.eltermere.co.uk

Drunken Duck, for lunch or dinner. An old favorite that's always good. Another one you'd have to drive to. www.drunkenduckinn.co.uk

L'enclume in Cartmell for dinner. I believe it still has a michelin star. Only been twice about 5 years ago and was very very good. www.lenclume.co.uk

The Samling, Windermere for dinner, been here a few times and it's very good. It's recently been taken over by Von Essen since we last visited, although they do have a very good reputation.

Jerichos, Windermere - this is the only restaurant we've been to in the centre of Windermere and was very good. www.jerichos.co.uk

Gilpin Lodge, Windermere - another one just outside Windermere. Got a Michelin Star I think. Very good food but the service was a bit stuffy when we went. It has just had a complete refurbishment. www.gilpinlodge.co.uk

Robertos, Windermere - this is an Italian in Bowness, never been but heard very good things about it.

The Bay restaurant at The Waterhead Hotel in Ambleside is nice, for lunch or dinner.

Holbeck Ghyll for dinner.
A bit pricey, but utterly superb.
Great views too. See if you can get in there early for champagne on the terrace before you eat dinner.
