Restaurant recommendation in Canterbury

It's been several years since I have been out to eat in Canterbury so looking for some ideas here please for my mother's birthday. There will be a group of 5 of us including my parents ("young" 60's), all enjoy good quality food. Last year we went to Read's in Faversham which was good, although I think I have had better.

Is the Michael Caine restaurant in Canterbury any good? Really looking for either English or modern European cuisine, but open to suggestions. Budget up to £50 per head exc. drinks.

Thanks guys, but I am specifically looking for a Canterbury restaurant this time, she has already eaten in the Sportsman I believe. So, Micheal Caines place, any good?
