Freezing Question
Discussion
I am making some portions of cottage pie and usually put them in individual oval pie dishes to serve. I want to freeze some portions but I have run out of tupperware boxes and wonder, is it possible to freeze them in the pie dishes or do pie dishes not freeze?

A ceramic dish will freeze fine. Just make sure to let the dish defrost slightly before putting in the oven as the massive difference in temperature could possibly crack the dish.
I usually defrost them in the fridge the night before cooking as it cuts down on the cooking time and find they cook better. louiebaby said:
Wait until they are frozen in the pie dish, then tap them out. What way you don't need too many pie dishes...

Was just about to suggest the same. I do big batches of pie fillings, lasagne etc etc this way. Just line the bowl with cling first then lift out once frozen and wrap up with more cling.
