Has anyone tried this? If you have how much are you supposed to use?

I'm guessing I might not get much of a response, but worth a try as i'm not entirely sure how much to use and I can't see anyting on the bottle.

My mother has a cheap paperback called "The Curry Secret". Tells you exactly how to make the onion base, and has loads of recipes to go with it.

You can get it on Amazon for about £4. I'd imagine you can then use the Waitrose stuff in the same way.

This is not, I realise, going to help you make a curry this evening! hehe

I use a onion and celery base to all sorts of stews/curries. One onion chopped finely with a celery heart chopped finely, cook slowly for half an hour to an hour with a tight fitting pan until they are disintigrating, then use as the base for what you are cooking, I guess it's a sort of vegetable stock.

Well do you know, years ago I did one following a madhur jeffery receipe and it was a disaster with an awful after taste and I have no idea why.

Well I ended up putting most of the jar in, it worked really well.

It will blow your mind. I started using some of the recipies a while ago. They are very good. The curry base and madras recipes by 'Cory Ander'hehe are particularly good. You may have to register to read the forums but its free!
