Seems like a very good buy for £250 especially when you read the notes. Anyone got one?

I really don't get the whole sous vide thing. If it was something that could be done without spending silly money I'd give it a go, but it seems a lot to pay for what it is. Are the results really so good as to make it worthwhile?

To me it just seems to be a passing fad, much like molecular gastronomy, which appears to have gone a bit quiet now...

I've been playing around with it of a couple of years and if purely for home use then cling film and a pan of water in the oven is as far as I would go. I'm thinking of commercial use as well so I wan't a dedicated bit of kit.

As for the results, so far they're mixed and I reserve judgement until I spend some real time on it over the next few weeks. So far, rump steak can be improved 500% and tonight chicken was amazing. Tried some veg and it didn't work at all.

Ordered a few books off Amazon to work through. I think it's more about getting consistent results in a commercial environment I'm thinking of although it's a lot of fun trying things out.
