Wine bargains at Asda

Both £4.48 a bottle (normally £7 - £9).
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Villa Maria Private Bin Malborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Plus a few others as well. Fill your boots.
They were only just putting out the offer stock at 4pm today, so there 'should' be some left tomorrow.
(Though not at Burgh Heath there won't be

)Shop at ASDA with a calculator. Some weeks, a box of 15 tins of coke is less than the smaller packs, the other day, the 6 pack with 2 free worked out about 2 quid cheaper than the box of 15.
Today, the box of 15 works out almost £2 quid cheaper than the smaller packs.
I did like the box of sweets for crimbo, £10 each, buy one get one free, so lets see, its £5 a box......
Now its Save £5 only £5 a box.......................shows the £10 sign slashed, muppets.

Thanks for the tip. When I am looking out for "Wine Bargains at Asda" I will be on the lookout for tins of coke mixed amongst the bottles. The cheeky scamps. Do they thing we are stupid??Edited by mattdaniels on Sunday 14th November 20:51
Just filled the wine rack.
Took a flyer on a Sancerre that I shall be liberating more of tomorrow if it's any good.
On other items, Chavsda is more expensive than anywhere else: the elderly couple in front of me at the checkout had a pack of rump steak at £15/Kg, which they'd been enticed to buy with a £1.50 'money-off' coupon.
They'd have paid less for that at Waitrose - where rump steak is £11.99/Kg and better quality too.

Mmm A Sancerre could just tempt me in there. The other tremendous Asda bargains are wooden coat hangers - £1 for 2, and screenwash - £1 for 2.5 litres (not pre-mixed either).

I am not sure if it has finished now but Sainsburys were doing 25% of a case of 6 bottles of any wine on the shelf. This is in addition to any other discount on offer, so given McGuigan Bin Series Merlot is currently half price and a very drinkable Merlot IMHO I filled up the car pronto. Makutu Bay Sauvignon Blanc is also half price and very nice too so I found some room on the back seats for 7 cases of that. I also had a £12 of £60 shop voucher so all in all not a bad afternoon!

The offer's still on - I've just been back and restocked.
No sign of the 2 for £30 Moet though...
Moet is nasty stuff anyway. There's much better out there for much less.No sign of the 2 for £30 Moet though...

If the 'Villa Maria Private Bin Malborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010' is still available at £4.48 though, that is fantastic value for a great wine.
I pay more than that, per bottle, buying it by the case at Costco.

I completely agree about Moet. At that price point I'd far rather drink Denbies Whitedowns at £14.99 from the vineyard and support a local business than throw money at the French.

What is fanatstic for the money though is Tesco finest Champagne it consistently wins blind tastings against all the big names and is still under twenty quid a bottle.V8mate said:

FFS. I can't even buy it for that. And I live less than 100km from where it's made. I pay more than that, per bottle, buying it by the case at Costco.
The Villa Maria has gone, but they've replaced it with Montana 2010 (this rebranded as Brancott Estate in June 2010) at £4.24 a bottle.
This sells in Waitrose at £8.82.
Fill your boots guys and gals. I've left you some, although you'd be amazed how much wine it is possible to fit in an Elise.
