I've tried a few but am looking for somewhere that's decent but not crazily expensive. I've been to sat bains, which is good but I can't afford to eat there on a casual basis. I've finally found myself a decent curry house (cottage balti in beeston if anyone's interested) but am looking for some other types of restaurant as well.
Any suggestions? I'm quite happy to eat most types of food, so there is no particular restaurant type that I'm after, just places that are decent.

Cheers.

I've always liked Saltwater, although it is in the worst place ever. The Corner House.

French Living on Kings Street always used to be excellent when I went regularly a couple of years ago.

I believe there's an Antibo in Nottingham.
I've not tried it, but the one in Derby was frequented by me on a weekly basis for about 5 years.

Well recommended if you like a decent Italian

Another recommendation for French Living, always very good food and very reasonably priced.

I've always thought World Service as one of the best restaurant in Nottingham and not as high piced as Sat Bains.

I'd also recommend French Living. Very reasonably priced, especially the set menu in the week.

World Service is also very nice.

How close to Nottingham does it need to be?

The Red Lion at Stathern (vale of belvoir) and their sister pub, the Olive Branch, Clipsham (down the A1 towards stamford a bit...Olive has rooms too...) aren't that far away and both worth the trip out.

They're also not Sat Bains prices smile

Tonic and Sinatras both in the city centre are good as is Merchants. Agree with the Harts recommendations too.

Sat Bains every time but you need deep pockets!

I've not been to Nottingham for a while but Harts and World Service were always very good. IIRC Harts was better value than WS but the food was better in WS.

I recommend Sinatras as someone said above, and also Fat cat is very nice for burgers. If you are including pubs for restaurants, I'd like to say Kean's head. You can have proper homemade pub food (sometimes French fusion) and interesting ales there. smile x
