Sorry, but I no longer keep and birds custard in my house as I have started making my own.

It's bloody magic. I was afraid of making it but had some time yesterday so gave it a go with eggs from my Chooks.

I recommend it, it takes a little time but you won't go back.

You really can't beat homemade custard or creme anglais.

Agreed, and something I should make more often.

Vanilla, yes but I used the paste so had the seeds and the flavour.

I still have some left so will be buying bannanas for the custard tonight, mmmmmm.

there's definitely a place for both

when you've bought a quick crumble from Sainsburys, and at the end of a big roast can't be arsed to make something really good, then birds is the way forward. It doesn't come close to beating the real stuff, but you can't have everything!

There just is no comparison to a well made home recipe and out the tin. It is so easy as well.

birds is pretty vile, but considering M&S do a bloody good vanilla custard for under two quid a pot these days....i usually take the lazy option.

I can't bear the stuff - school dinners put me off it for life.

No.

I mean no you're not.

When I were a little lad at school I would time my arrival at the desert queue to get a fresh tray of custard. Then ask for all the skin off the top of it.

And let's face it, school custard had a skin so think it was like, well, real skin smile
